Good morning friends,

The weather is staying relatively mild in Ottawa due, they say, to the warming effect of the El Nino. Our final year-end gathering is this weekend with Venerable Cunda coming to Quaker House Friday Evening followed by the Saturday Day of Mindfulness, (DoM). Please feel most welcome to bring a dana offering of food stuffs all of which will return with Venerable Cunda and go towards the ongoing support of the monks at Tisarana Monastery.
A recommended dhamma talk from last month’s DoM, is “Framing” by Ajahn Jayasaro, a senior British-born Forest Sangha monk, now living in Thailand. Ajahn Jayasaro’s 2007 dhamma recording was recently introduced by Evelyn Tan at the Tu-An Pagoda in November.
This dhamma recording selected by Evelyn (and others like it), have given lay practitioners an opportunity to share teachings they particularly value at our larger group sittings. The OBS executive board is very grateful to those who have given generously of their time to help lead OBS meditation events, retreats and study groups. In particular, we offer our collective gratitude to Evelyn Tan, Hoa Nguyen, Andre Vellino, Jim Bedard and Randy Baker.

Lastly, on behalf of your OBS executive board, Mark Cuddy, Joan Thompson, Evelyn Tan, Nissanka Pussegoda, Jane Brown, Lisa Gorecki, Ann Waters, Heather White, Kathy Nathan and myself, we thank you for your friendship and generous financial support of the OBS this past year. All good wishes to you and your families for a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.
