Good evening members and friends,

Samaneri Anuruddha, originally from the United Kingdom, has been studying devotedly for several years with Ayya Medhanandhi at Sati Saraniya Hermitage near Perth, Ontario. At the time of the recent full moon on December 3rd, Venerable Anuruddha attended and was ordained at the Upasampada Bhikkhuni Ordination at Dhammadharini Monastery in Northern California.

The OBS executive board and members extend their best wishes to Ven Anuruddha and may the friendship and support of our lay community help to keep fresh before her these moments of her high resolve.

We are grateful to the sisters in Canada, the United States and around the world who are following in the steps of the first Buddhist nun, Mahāpajāpatī Gotami.

For more information on these dedicated 21st century bhikkhunis please see this Guide .
